The Berea College men’s and women’s basketball team’s USCAA Division I National Championship odyssey began this morning when they departed campus bound for the Pittsburgh suburb of Lemont Furnace and the campus of Penn State – Fayette. The women are the overall number three seed and will play on Wednesday, March 4 at 11:00 am versus St. Mary of the Woods College from St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, the tournament’s sixth seed. The men are the overall number two seed and will play on Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00 pm against the number seven seed, Iowa Wesleyan University from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Berea College is one of only three USCAA Division I members to have both their men’s and women’s programs competing for a National Championship. The others are Daemen College from Buffalo, NY, Iowa Wesleyan University, from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and St. Joseph’s College – Brooklyn, New York.
Below you will find some additional logistical information for the weeks coming events.
The 2015 USCAA Basketball Championships are hosted by Penn State Fayette. The games will be played on the PSU-Fayette’s Eberly Campus in either the Main Arena or the Maltho Gymnasium. PSU-Fayette is located two miles north of the city of Uniontown. The physical address is 2201 University Drive, Lemont Furnace, PA 15456.
Parking will be available on campus at Penn State Fayette. Spectators may park in the Community Center parking lot or the lower student parking lot.
DAY PASSES: Admission cost will be $8 per day for spectators (all games that day included).
TOURNAMENT PASSES: Week long tournament passes will be available online for $20 by clicking HERE . On site Tournament Passes will be $24. Tournament passes are good for all days of the tournament and must be redeemed at the admission gate.

USCAA Skills Competition - Select members of the men’s team will be strutting their individual stuff when they compete the 2015 USCAA Skills Competition Presented by Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on Tuesday at noon in the Main Arena at Penn State Fayette. Berea College will not be participating in the women's events. The order of events will be Women’s Hot Shot (BC not participating), Men’s Three Point (Daishon Robinson), Women’s Three Point (BC not participating), and Men’s Slam Dunk Contests (Tevin Webster).
Championship Banquet - The 2015 USCAA Basketball National Championships Tournament Banquet will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Marquis Ballroom at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The banquet will feature introductions of all participating programs as well as the announcing of the USCAA Basketball All-Academic team members, the USCAA Basketball All-Americans, The USCAA Basketball Coaches of the Year and the USCAA Basketball Players of the Year.

The men play on Wednesday, March 4 at 5:00 pm versus Iowa Wesleyan in Maltho Gymnasium. With a victory, they will advance to the National Semi-Final game set for 10:00 pm on Thursday, March 5 to play the winner of the Rochester College vs. St. Joseph’s College – Brooklyn game. With a loss, they will move to a consolation game versus the loser of the Rochester College vs. St. Joseph’s College – Brooklyn game on Thursday, March 5 at 10:00 am. Iowa Wesleyan College like Berea is transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division III membership. They are members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and field 10 sports, including football. They are 12-10 on the season (8-9 in the SLIAC). The Tigers are coached by Alex Huisman who was the SLIAC Co-Coach of the Year in his first season with the program. The Tigers are led by Chris Fowler a junior point guard from Victorville, CA. Fowler was named to the SLIAC All-Conference Second team and All-Defensive team. He led the SLIAC in free throw percentage with 88.1%, and was third in assists with 91 all the while scoring 14.1 points per game. Learn more about the Tigers via their website by clicking HERE.
St. Mary of the Woods College is making their fourth trip to the USCAA National Championships but the first since the 2011-2012 season. The Pomeroys are 13-12 on season and led by juniors Shelby Parmer and Grace Ziegler who average 14.5 and 15 points per game, respectively. Parmer also leads the USCAA in steals per game. The Pomeroys and the Mountaineers have several common opponents during the 2014-2015 season. Both teams lost to KIAC members IU-Southeast and Brescia; while both teams defeated UC-Clermont. The Mountaineers defeated UCC in January 100-75, while the Pomeroys only managed to defeat the Cougars 76-71, The most telling common opponent is Wilberforce University who handed St. Mary-Woods a 21 point loss on the same court where the Mountaineers won by 22 points in early February.
