Baseball Drops Pair in Pittsburgh

A big fourth inning doomed the Mountaineers in game one as Point Park scored ten runs to seal the 12-3 win.  The Pioneers roughed up Berea starter Lawton Jackson (JR/Allensville, KY), who allowed six runs on six hits in three innings for the loss.

Berea fell behind early in game two, as Point Park scored three first inning runs and added single runs in the 3rd and 4th for the 5-0 lead.  After the Mountaineers scored twice in the 6th to pull within 5-2, the Pioneers scored five runs in the bottom of the frame to secure the win.  Blake Crowe (SR/Irvine, KY) and Logan Hunt (SO/Richmond, KY) had two hits apiece for Berea and Ryan Akins (JR/Lexington, KY) drove home two runs.  Patrick Elzinga (JR/Zeeland, MI) suffered the loss after surrendering eight hits and five earned runs in four innings of work.

Berea, now 15-12 overall and 5-5 in the KIAC, will play Point Park again Sunday afternoon in a conference doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
