PIPPA PASSES, KY- The Berea College Mountaineer baseball team fell short against their former KIAC opponent in the Alice Lloyd Eagles, losing their 9 inning game by a score of 8-4.
The Mountaineers were unable to get past the pitching of Alice Lloyd early on in the contest, as Ryan Lavy for the Eagles shut the Mountaineers down for 5.1 innings, giving up only three runs, and leaving with the lead intact. Timmy Sublett came in relief for the Eagles and finished the game with 3.2 innings pitched, only allowing two hits, and giving up only one run, leading Alice Lloyd to get their first win against the Mountaineers all year.
For Berea, Evan Hackney was the only standout against the former conference rivals from eastern Kentucky, going 2-4 with a double and a home run. Hackney is in the chase for being the home run leader for the USCAA, hitting his 6th tank of the year.
Griffen Norris gave up six runs, four of which were earned, through three innings pitched. Zach Roberson pitched a solid four innings, giving up only two runs, and leaving it up to Lance Shelton to finish up the final inning on the bump.
