Berea Baseball Has Four Named To All-American List

GLEN FALLS, NY- The 2016 USCAA All American list for baseball was announced at the End of the Year Championship Banquet in Glen Falls, New York, revealing that four Berea College student athletes were recognized for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.

Evan Hackney was named to the Second Team All American list. Hackney finished his senior year with a stellar season at the plate: batting .341 with 10 doubles, 8 home runs, 32 runs batted in, and drawing 10 walks on his way to achieving the baseball accolade.

Ryan Blevins made drastic improvements in the field and at the plate throughout his sophomore season, leading to his selection to the list of honorable mentions for USCAA All-Americans. The young second basemen an astounding .370, with 4 triples, a home run, and 5 stolen bases.

Tyler Plageman finished his senior year on a high note, as he, like Blevens, received honorable mention status for his final year at Berea College. Plageman batted .333 with an on base percentage of .503. The left handed hitter also may have needed a little ice for his right elbow over the course of the season, as he racked up a nation leading 19 times being hit by a pitch.  

Will Hislope was given the honor of being a USCAA Academic All American. Hislope was the only Berea College baseball player to receive the honor this year.
