Berea Loses Nail-Biter to Albion, 86-84

Cincinnati, OH - The Berea College Mountaineers traveld to Cincinnati to play Albion College in the Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Mount Saint Joseph University.  The Mountianeers lost 84-86 on a last second layup made by Albion.

Berea came out strong and jumped to a 9-0 lead five minutes into the game.  The Britons fought their way back and with nine minutes left in the first half Berea only led by one, 25-24.  The score went back and forth and at the end of the first half Berea trailed 41-43.  Berea shot 16-24 from the field and an impressive 7-7 from behind the arc.  The Mountaineers were lead in the first half by Richard Parker with 18 points.  Parker shot 4-4 from behind the arc and 7-10 from the field. 

In the second half the Mountaineers and Britons countinued the back and forth play.  With less then four minutes left in the game the Mountaineers had a four point lead.  Neither team would lead by more than two from that point on.  With six seconds left in the game Anthony Myrks found Parker who hit a layup to tie the score 84-84.  With one second left Albion's Travell Oakes hit the last second layup to give the Britons the 86-84 victory. 

The Mountaineers were lead by Parker who finished the game with 35 points.  The Mountaineers had two others scoring in the double digits, Dominique Garmon (13 points) and Myrks (10 Points). 

Berea will be back in action at Home on Monday, November 23rd when they take on Boyce College.  Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
