Crestview Hills, KY- After a 99-96 overtime victory against Berry College in the Coach Jim Connor Classic, the men's basketball team returned to the court earlier today. The team took the floor against the host team, the Thomas More College Saints
Berea raced out to a 6-1 lead which included four points from Corey Wise. A three-jump shot from Dyonta Bizzle-Brown along with a layup from Richard Parker put the Mountaineers up 11-5. Thomas More scored four straight points to cut the deficit to two, before a Stephen Butts three-point field goal moved the Berea advantage back out to five, 14-9. The game became tied at the 9:34 mark before Wise's jump shot put the Mountaineers back ahead by two points, 19-17. Over the remaining minutes of the first half, the Saints used a 19-7 scoring run to go into halftime with a 36-26 advantage.
Parker's three-point basket broke a 7-0 run Thomas More opened the second half with to make the score 43-29. Shooting hurt Berea in the second half as they shot just 30.3% from the field and quickly fell behind, allowing Thomas More to go ahead 72-48. The final scoreboard saw the Saints walk off the court with an 84-60, giving Berea their first loss of the season.
The offense was paced by Parker, who led the Mountaineers in scoring with 27 points, including 50% from the three-point line. Bizzle-Brown recorded a double-double in the game, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Myrks was the assist leader for the team, finishing with six.
The team returns to the Seabury Center on Tuesday, November 22nd with a 2-1 record. The team will host Mount St. Joseph University on the Roland Wierwille Court at 7:30 PM.
