Berea, KY- The conclusion of the soccer doubleheader saw the men's soccer team go to the pitch for a game against a USA South conference opponent. The opponent, the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops, hail from the East division of the conference and is the second game of a three-game home stand for Berea.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the opening segments of the game. A point did not go on the scoreboard until the 25th minute when the Battling Bishops scored the first goal of the game to move ahead 1-0. The deficit the Mountaineers faced moved out to three goals as the buzzer for halftime rang.
The stymied offense of Berea continued into the second half as the defense of the N.C. Wesleyan kept them in check. The visiting Battling Bishops added six more goals to finish out the game winning 9-0. Noah DeHart, who started in the net for the Mountaineers, combined with Nicholas Knoster to make three saves in the game.
Berea returns to the field tomorrow for the final game of their three-game home stand. The game sees the Mountaineers stay in the USA South conference as the team welcomes Methodist University from the East division to the Berea College Sports Complex for an 11:30 AM kickoff.
