Lookout Mountain, GA- The men's soccer took to the pitch tonight to play their season finale, completing their first full season in the USA South. The final contest of the season came against conference opponent, the Covenant College Scots.
The game did not start as the Mountaineers had hoped as the Scots scored a quick goal to take a 1-0 lead. Berea's search for an equalizer was not found before Covenant took a 2-0 lead. Trailing 4-0, the Mountaineers had a chance to cut into the deficit with Issac Mendoza's shot, but the shot went wide and the halftime buzzer sounded with Berea trailing by four goals.
The offense continued to struggle for the Mountaineers as play restarted in the second half. An attempt to put the first goal on the board for Berea on a Pedro Herrera shot went wide and the Mountaineers went on to fall to the Scots 9-0. Mendoza and Herrera finished with a shot each in the game. Noah DeHart completed the game in the net for the Mountaineers, finishing with 15 saves on 24 shots on goal. DeHart finishes the season as the conference leader in saves with 133. Issac Domenech led the team in shots and shots on goal with 19 and 8, respectively.
