Three members of the Berea College men's track and field competed at the 2014 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
Berea track athletes Jeffery Johnson and Jeremy Johnson from Austin, IN, and Tarrance O'Connor, from Warsaw, KY, each qualified to compete in the National Championship in the men's Marathon event. Of the 47 athletes competing for the national championship, senior Jeffery Johnson finished in 6th place with a time of 2:39:12.90. O'Connor, a senior, finished the race in 3:03:18.00, placing him 25th overall in the race. Sophomore Jeremy Johnson did not finish the race. Jeremy Johnson, who led the Mountaineers for much of the spring season, was in second place overall at the 22-mile mark before suffering a race-ending injury. The athletes' finishes helped Berea's men's team accumulate seven points, good enough to rank them in 32nd place of the 72 teams that competed. For his efforts, Jeffery Johnson was named an NAIA all-American.
The championships were held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, AL. The men of Indiana Tech took home the team title for the second straight year.
