Wilmore, KY- The women's basketball opened the 2017-2018 regular season on the road this evening, traveling to Wilmore, KY to take on the Eagles of Asbury University. A 13-3 run, including nine straight points, helped the Mountaineers win their first game of the season 68-54.
Berea held a three point lead, 18-15, at the end of the first quarter before taking a 32-27 lead as the game went to halftime. The visiting Mountaineers shot 8-9 from the charity stripe in the closely contested first half.
Berea outscored the home Eagles 20-14 in the third quarter to lead by 11 points, 52-41 as the horn at the end of the third quarter sounded. The scored stayed in favor of the Mountaineers in the fourth quarter as the team returned home with a 68-54 victory. Bri Lanham led the way in points, finishing the game with 21 points while Nakeisha Greene controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.
The team returns to the Seabury Center for their home opener this weekend for Homecoming. Berea welcomes USA South opponent Brevard College to the Roland Wierwille Court on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
