Berea, KY- The women's soccer team returned to the field today, engaging in a defensive battle with the University of the Cincinnati-Clermont Cougars.
The opening minutes saw the team exchange shots back and forth with neither team connecting with the net. The first goal though came in the 18th minute as Clermont took a 1-0 lead. After the goal, the Mountaineers offense picked up, evidenced by their 10 shots in the first half, but none of those offensive chances flew into the net, as the team went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Berea's attack disappeared in the second half as the team was held to just one shot and they would not be able to overcome the early goal by the Cougars and fell 1-0. The loss moves the team's record to 3-9-1. Kierra Moore was the leader on offense for the Mountaineers, finishing with four shots. Goalkeeper Amber Follin finished with three saves in the game.
The homestand continues for Berea as they return to the Berea College Sports Complex to host Eureka College on Sunday, October 16th. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM.
