LaGrange, GA/Montgomery, AL- The men's basketball team hit the road this past weekend to play in a pair of conference games. The first stop for the Mountaineers was LaGrange College. In a close fought contest, the Mountaineers fell short 97-90. From there the men headed to Huntingdon College. The Mountaineers again fought hard but could not pull out the win and fell to the Hawks 71-67. This road trip put Berea at 3-6 for the year and 0-4 in conference play.
In the first game against the LaGrange Panthers the Mountaineers found themselves down 41-38 at halftime. Berea was outscored again in the second half and fell 97-90 to the Panthers. Berea was led by freshman, Torell Carter who had 38 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow freshman Travis Hadyn Roe added 22 points.
In the second game of the weekend, the Mountaineers took on the Huntingdon Hawks. At halftime, the Hawks led the Mountaineers 33-28. Berea outscored the Hawks in the second half but still fell short by a score of 71-67. Dyonta Bizzle Brown led the Mountaineers with 20 points and added 6 rebounds. Mitchell Embree added 15 points and Deandre Lightfoot had 12.
The Mountaineers will be back in action on the road against Brevard College on Wednesday January, 3rd. The game is set to start at 7:30pm.
