DANVILLE, KY.--

1st day

The Berea Mountaineers golf team achieved something that have not done all year. They had three golfers post scores in the 70s. Freshman Dong Soo Lee led the way with 75, followed by junior Michael Akard with a 77, and sophomore Isaiah Bolon posted the third round in the 70s with a 79.   Sophomore Jeremiah Bolon struggled with an 89 and freshman TR Nolen brought in a 90 to complete day 1 for the Mountaineers.

2nd Day

The second was even better for the Mountaineers. Again, there was three scores in the 70s and this time Junior Michael Akard lead the way with 74, Dong Soo Lee came in with another 75, and Isaiah Bolon followed it up a 77. Jeremiah Bolon and TR Nolen both improved from day one with J. Bolon coming in at 86, and TR Nolen with an 88.

This was the Mountaineers lowest two-day score since 2015. Freshman Dong Soo Lee posted the program's record for a freshman score for a two-day tournament with a 150.

The Mountaineers will travel this weekend to Alice Lloyd to take them on in The Shovel Match, which is the annual Ryder Cup style match between Alice Lloyd and Berea College in golf. Alice Lloyd currently hold the shovel match after winning it in 2017 and defending it through a tie-breaker last year.
